Through Career Connect, you will build the essential knowledge, skills and experience that you need for the world of work. Statistics show that extra-curricular activities, transferable skills and industry knowledge are must-haves when forging your career path.

To join, you’ll first need to learn how to develop employability skills and how to communicate your value by completing a short online module. Completing this module will provide you with access to the Career Connect program, a personalised skill development platform, and over 100 extra-curricular activities to build your employability.

Plus, if you meet certain targets within the program, you can get the Career Connect Award, which formally recognizes your extra-curricular experiences and employability skills. To get the Award, you need to completed:

  • 75 hours of community activity that contributes to the development of the University and/or wider community. This may include: volunteering (e.g., with Uni Crew); contributing to clubs and society leadership; being a student mentor; external sporting, cultural or religious activities; or engaging with not-for-profit organisations.
  • 100 hours of paid and/or unpaid work experience that develops professional skills. Casual or part-time work that provides you opportunity to develop and enhance your employability skills can be counted in your work experience hours. This may include embedded career-ready placement activities including clinical placements, practicums and internships.
  • 5 personal development experiences, such as career development learning workshops, student conferences, engagement in a mentor relationship, attendance at expos or industry events,
